Eggnog Cookies

This delicious recipe I came across during one of my many Pinterest marathon sessions and it has since become a staple in my holiday because what says Christmas like eggnog and cookies mixed together?!

What You'll Need
Cookies:
1 1/4 cups white sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup eggnog
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Eggnog Glaze:
1 ½ cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons eggnog

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C)
2. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg.
3. Cream sugar and butter until light
4. Add eggnog, vanilla, and egg yolks; beat at medium speed with mixer until smooth.
5. Add flour mixture and beat at low speed until just combined.
6. Do not over mix
7. Spoon onto un-greased cookie sheets or parchment paper and make the dough balls rather small, they will spread generously in the oven.
8. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg.
9. Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until the edges barely start to brown.
10.  While cookies are in the oven, make the eggnog glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar with 3 T eggnog.
11.  Gaze your cookies warm or cooled and top with cinnamon.

let cool and enjoy in excessive amounts because you will not be able to stop at just one!

#wellwoodsantaselfies

Looking for a great organization to support this holiday season? Wellwood Cancer Center is a great cause. I had he pleasure of orchistrating a fundraiser with a group of lovely students to raise money this selfless organization.

Wellwood is a community-based, non-profit organization which provides information, programs and peer support to people who have received a diagnosis of cancer, loved ones, caregivers and healthcare providers. Working with existing community agencies and cancer care providers, Wellwood aims to provide integrative supportive care.

For our fundraiser we organized a booth at Mohawk College where students could make a donation and get their picture taken with Santa. We coined our project #wellwoodsantaselfies and encouraged participants to utilize the hashtag on social media. It was a great success and lots of fun! However, they could always use more donations to be able to continue to carry out the great work they do. Spread the holiday spirit!
